11 July 2012 in Sport

South Africa’s Olympic governing body Sascoc has announced that any SA gold medal winners at this year’s Olympic Games will receive a cash reward of R400 000.

Shane Keohane, HSM’s commercial director, was at the press conference to run the media aspect of the event and co-ordinate all interviews with Deputy Minister of Sport Gert Oosthuizen and Gideon Sam (president) and Tubby Reddy (CEO) of Sascoc. ‘It was a significant event in terms of rewarding medal winners with remuneration as an added incentive to do well,’ says Shane.

Silver medallists get R200 000 and bronze medallists R80 000. The coaches of the medallists will also be in on the money, winning R100 000, R50 000 and R20 000 respectively. The country’s Paralympic medallists will also be included with gold medallists getting R100 000 and silver and bronze medallists R75 000 and R40 000 respectively.

HSM is the media partner to Sascoc and produces their quarterly magazine, Road to London.
