Festival-themed family fun day a huge success

31 October 2013 in General

HSM believes in giving back to their employees what they have put in. Queue the second family fun day for 2013. The action attractions for this family fun day was a touch rugby tournament and an open-air cinema. Held at the prestigious 1st XV rugby field at Wynberg Boys High School, the mountain was the perfect backdrop for what was a successful afternoon and evening.

The HSM family and their family members joined in on a festival-themed fun day. An inflatable obstacles course, air hockey and table tennis tables and jumping castles entertained the younger kids, while the adults relaxed to a wonderful head, back, neck and shoulder massage courtesy of African Touch.

With vendors to satisfy any sweet tooth, everyone was treated to Spur burgers, candyfloss, popcorn, slush puppies, donuts and coffee and hot chocolate. Although the low hanging fog and mist teased us with rain no weather condition could stop the sales an editorial teams from going head to head in a touch rugby tournament. All were good sports and the matches were very evenly matched and dare we say saw some budding athletes showing off their skills.

A big thank you must go to Lionel Naude for arranging a sponsorship with Western Rugby who contributed to both teams’ game attire with golf shirts and peak caps as well as with the match balls. After an hour and half of touch rugby Western Rugby apparel came off the field in better condition than the HSM staffers.

As soon as the sun had set those that remained joined together in the amphitheatre and were treated to an outdoor movie, picnic style, presented by Galileo. This nine-meter-high inflatable screen played host to the Johnny Depp remake of Roald Dahl's book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

‘The family fun day was an act by HSM to say thank you to the staff and to their nearest and dearest. A thank you to those whose time they give us which takes them away form they closest family members,’ says marketing executive and family fun day planner Kim Schonfeldt.

‘We can only hope that the popularity of these events grows every year so that each staff member can benefit from Highbury’s generosity. This is great initiative thought up by our CEO, Kevin Ferguson and just goes to show how HSM is committed to its family’s needs.’
